- ➤ A new partnership between the Arlington County Fair board and the County Department of Parks and Recreation means county staff will handle operations while volunteers focus on competitive exhibits. The five-day fair will take place from August 13 to 17 at Thomas Jefferson Community Center and will feature a new beer garden, improved traffic flow and free shuttle service from Ballston Mall parking garage. - ➤ Arlington police announced the loss of retired K-9 Duke, a 12-year-old German Shepherd who served as a patrol and narcotics detection dog from 2014 until retiring in 2022 - he spent his retirement years at home and greeting his partner at the bus stop. - ➤ Arlington office space interest is falling as a CBRE report shows over 26.6% of available space was empty in Q2 with only one new building under construction. - ➤ Traffic increased on the inbound Theodore Roosevelt Bridge between Arlington and D.C. when construction cut eastbound lanes from four to three on Monday, affecting I-66, U.S. Route 50 and the George Washington Memorial Parkway until early next year — further work will extend the bridge’s lifespan with additional lane reductions planned.
