- ➤ Arlington residents along Columbia Pike are worried about safety and walking conditions due to a $161 million construction project that leaves sidewalks unfinished and roads full of potholes. County officials said they will repair the issues and add signs as work continues until early 2026 — many locals remain upset by the delays. WJLA

- ➤ Bun'd Up in Pentagon City will close next month with its final day on October 19. Longtime chefs will open Pink Saffron on or after Diwali at 1201 S. Joyce Street near Westpost—serving Indian curries, biryanis and street food. ARLnow
- ➤ BOE—a new country-themed bar—opens tonight in Clarendon at 2854 Wilson Blvd and brings a taste of Nashville with a mechanical bull, unique decor, and country-style food and drinks. The bar will hold its soft opening this weekend with sports viewing on Sunday and plans a grand opening on Sept. 25 with weekly events and happy hour specials. ARLnow

- ➤ ARLnow’s readers’ choice poll for the Best Japanese Restaurant in Arlington features nominees with voting closing in two weeks—Arlington residents can also vote for the Best Hardware Store until next Friday at 8:30 a.m. ARLnow
- ➤ The ARLnow podcast featured hosts Vernon, Dan and Lene with special guest Sol Schott from Acme Pie on Columbia Pike as they discussed local topics including the proposed ban on gas-powered leaf blowers, Mike Pence’s new role at GMU and a new chatbot for Arlington County services. The episode also covered dessert talk focused on Acme Pie's baking techniques and customer tastes. ARLnow
- ➤ Reclining Liberty, a 25-foot artwork featuring the Statue of Liberty in repose, remains on the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington’s lawn after a 9—0 vote by the Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board on Sept. 17. The temporary installation from August 2023 has become a well-loved fixture for visitors. ARLnow

- ➤ The Arlington Police Department announced that road closures for Clarendon Day will begin on Sept. 27 from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m.—Wilson Boulevard, Clarendon Boulevard, N. Highland, N. Hudson, and N. Herndon streets will be closed with street parking restricted and drivers advised to use Clarendon Metro Station to avoid delays. DC News Now
- ➤ The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission reported 27 improper door events in 2025—more than the total in 2024—that risk riders falling from trains onto nearby tracks or roads. Metro is retraining operators and making hourly reminders to ensure doors open only when safe. WJLA
