- ➤ Clarendon Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Clarendon Metro and will feature over 150 vendors and booths along with live music starting at 11 a.m.—attendees will also enjoy a kid’s zone and free parking in the nearby Van Metre Garage. ARLnow

- ➤ Arlington Economic Development launched its $1 million Arlington Innovation Fund in 2023 to boost high-growth startups in sectors such as security, safety, and logistics. Startups like Phalanx—whose SendTurtle tool now serves over 4,000 users—KnoNap, and GenLogs are scaling fast and strengthening Arlington’s tech community. ARLnow

- ➤ Former Vice President Mike Pence will join GMU's Arlington-based Schar School of Policy and Government as a professor of practice this fall—teaching undergraduate courses on politics, leadership and national governance starting in spring 2026. ARLnow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials at Reagan National Airport said Wednesday that crews are building a new parking deck atop the economy lot to ease a long-standing parking shortage. The deck—made with precast concrete from Canada—will open in two phases in February and May to add 2,169 parking spaces and support future projects like redeveloping Terminal 1. WJLA
- ➤ Arlington County has introduced a new AI chatbot called AVA — Arlington Virtual Assistant — that helps residents find answers on county services, elections, library offerings and transit details. - ➤ The Arlington County Board is considering a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers—citing concerns over noise, health, and pollution—and county staff are planning public engagements this fall to gather input from residents and local lawn companies.
