- ➤ Arlington’s oldest elementary school will celebrate its 100th birthday this Friday at Barcroft Elementary with student activities and a community picnic—students will form a human chain from the site of the original school to the current building and join an assembly unveiling a new time capsule and singing a special centennial song. - ➤ The Animal Welfare League of Arlington said Chadwick Fancypants—a 6-year-old Dutch rabbit with tuxedo coloring—is looking for a home in Arlington. Interested adopters can visit the shelter during adoption hours. ARLnow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arlington county staff have revised tenant-relocation guidelines to boost renter privacy—changes ease the rule that a complete tenant profile must be public for relocation payments and support. The County Board will review the revised guidelines in October while the new measures work to smooth developer delays and offer tenants extended notice and cash support. ARLnow
- ➤ Arlington County Board is considering a change to the stormwater fee program that would let homeowners’ associations earn up to 35% in savings on fees—officials said. A public hearing is set for Oct. 18 and the change could help 181 associations with about 3,800 properties. ARLnow

- ➤ Washington Capitals will hold a charity garage sale at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Ballston this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Season ticket members get early access at 10 a.m. and proceeds from T-shirts, bobbleheads, and posters will benefit the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation—sales of new hockey equipment will be separate. - ➤ Three weeks into the season, veteran offensive linemen helped the Washington-Liberty Generals earn a 3-0 start with a 35-0 win over Edison Eagles on Sept. 12—clearing the way for the running game and strong pass protection.
