- ➤ Arlington Public Schools is starting a pilot program called Readers Rise: Empowering Young Minds Through Reading that trains volunteers to read for an hour each week with K-2 students at schools (Barrett, Hoffman-Boston, and Long Branch) starting mid-October. The district received 48 sign-ups on the first day and will review the program mid-year while the volunteer application is open until Sept. 26. WTOP
