BUSINESS NEWS

  • Title Boxing Club plans to open a new boxing gym at Centro Arlington on Columbia Pike—where Orangetheory Fitness closed last year—and has applied for a builders’ permit while it negotiates a lease. The club will offer a fitness program with a 52‐week boxing progression and interval training for members.  ARLnow

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sept. 5, two men allegedly attempted a robbery of a mail carrier on N. Columbus Street — just north of Route 50 in Arlington Forest — at about 12:45 p.m. and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating the case while offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information.  ARLnow

CULTURE NEWS

  • NaLa Noches, a free Latin music series, will begin Thursday, September 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Metropolitan Park in National Landing — the event will feature salsa vocalist Max Rosado, local food from Taqueria Xochi, and art activities by the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington.  ARLnow

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Candidates for the Arlington school board are split on whether to reinstate school resource officers that were removed four years ago. Candidate James (Vell) Rives said that armed officers offer better protection while candidate Monique (Moe) Bryant said schools should use panic buttons and mental health services.  ARLnow

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two nonprofits plan to survey Arlington voters on their ranked-choice voting experience immediately after polls close in November. Ranked Choice Virginia received a $25,000 grant to design the survey and contact voters via text and telephone — while Challenging Racism secured a $35,000 grant to conduct in-person research and outreach.  ARLnow

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Affordable Homes & Communities will switch management of its 24 Arlington apartment buildings to CAPREIT—and KETTLER by the end of 2025, aiming to improve living conditions after past complaints. The changes will not lead to rent increases, and some existing staff are expected to remain.  ARLnow
