- ➤ Construction has begun on Saki, a new Japanese restaurant and speakeasy at 2055 15th Street N by partners Nick Cordero and Greg Lee, and the venue will serve high quality sushi directed by Chef Masaaki Uchino plus cocktails managed by Ana Barrera. The two-level restaurant will seat about 200 guests, offer lunch, happy hour, dinner and brunch, and is set to open this winter. ARLnow

- ➤ Arlington Career Center’s new Grace Hopper Center is under construction at 816 S. Walter Reed Drive and is set to open at the start of the 2026-27 school year—expanding academic and career programs for Arlington students. The project will finish in three phases, with phase one wrapping up in summer 2026 and final work ending in fall 2027—ensuring a modern facility that supports STEM and technical learning. ARLnow

- ➤ Sixteen-year-old Alia Abbud redesigned the wig room at VHC Health’s Reva and Sid Dewberry Cancer Resource Center on July 11 to create a welcoming space for chemotherapy patients trying on wigs—she added a leather swivel chair, organized cabinets, and cancer ribbon paintings to honor her former teacher who battled breast cancer. The project, completed with her troop, marked the final step in her journey to Eagle Scout. ARLnow
