- ➤ A new Eurofusion restaurant and bar named Ember Kitchen and Spirits will open later this year at 1301 S. Joyce Street in Pentagon City, replacing the former Irish gastropub Mattie and Eddie’s. - ➤ Panera Bread is opening a new fast-casual restaurant in Crystal City at 2450 Crystal Drive next to Navy Federal Credit Union. Construction began last month—an empty retail bay now under work—and the chain expects the café to open mid-November as its fourth Arlington location. ARLnow

- ➤ Arlington County Police reported 17 vehicles were damaged in two parking garage break-ins on South Lincoln and South George Mason Drive early Sunday morning—officials are investigating connections to other auto theft incidents. WJLA

- ➤ Local pastry personality Chanise Nycole, who has over 30,000 TikTok followers, will host Cake Fest DMV on Sunday, Sept. 21 at Arlington Beer Garden (3217 10th Street N.). Bakers must bring one full cake that serves between eight and ten people, set up early with ingredient signage and their own utensils, and the festival will feature a DJ, a photobooth and a matcha bar. - ➤ Arlington Housing Commission subcommittee met on July 30 to discuss easing rules so churches can redevelop their land for affordable housing and lower hurdles for all affordable projects. Chair Kellen MacBeth said the panel will meet again mid-August before sending its recommendations to the full commission scheduled to meet on Sept. 4. ARLnow
