  • An Arlington 60-year-old died in a five-vehicle crash on the Capital Beltway on July 21 when her stopped vehicle in the express lanes was hit from behind by a pickup truck—causing a chain reaction that left three others with life-threatening injuries.  ARLnow

  • A professional rugby player for Old Glory DC, Brady Daniel, was arrested on Friday in Arlington and charged with felony rape (along with strangulation, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration, and misdemeanor sexual battery and assault) after an alleged incident at a Clarendon residence.  ARLnow
  • Arlington County Police Department warns residents that scammers posing as contractors are knocking on doors offering construction services—these crews use high-pressure tactics to secure cash deals for repairs that are never completed and urge residents to hire only licensed and insured contractors without paying full amounts upfront.  WTOP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arlington Public Schools ended the 2024-25 school year with almost $250K in uncollected meal debt and, to cover the shortfall, School Board members transferred $248,523 — around 80% of this debt came from graduated students.  ARLnow

  • D.C.'s Summer Restaurant Week will run from August 18 to August 24, and over 100 local eateries in the DMV will offer multi-course menus for lunch, brunch, and dinner. Visitors can enjoy meals (priced between $25 and $65 per person) with select restaurants also pairing drinks.  DC News Now

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Arlington’s condo market dropped in the first half of 2025 with average prices falling 10% to about $508,500 and median prices down 7.5% to $439,000—only 39% of condos sold quickly at or above their asking prices.
