- ➤ Arlington Independent Media has returned WERA to 96.7 FM with lo-fi beats, yet its website and social media remain inactive—county staff said AIM has not accessed the transmission room since winter. - ➤ On the Fourth of July, two Arlington entrepreneurs launched Sea Suite Cruises’ Cantina Cruises party boat on the Potomac River—offering a full-service bar, chips and salsa courtesy of District Taco, and private party catering—where individual tickets cost about $50 with a complimentary drink. - ➤ Travelers at Reagan National Airport are pleased that TSA no longer requires removing shoes during security checks, a policy change announced Tuesday and now in effect nationwide following successful pilot tests—improving efficiency without compromising safety. Officials warn that passengers may still need to remove shoes if additional screening is needed. DC News Now
- ➤ On July 1, a working group on affordable housing met to explore how to help low- and moderate-income Arlington households by urging developers to add more funds to the Affordable Housing Investment Fund - the group will meet again on July 15 and aims to have concrete deliverables for the Housing Commission by September. - ➤ Arlington School Board picked Bethany Zecher Sutton as its new chair at a meeting on Tuesday; she said she will fight to protect school values from state and federal interference and warned that new federal actions may soon shrink the system's $845 million budget.
