- ➤ Nigel Franklin, a respected community leader known for his inspiration in service, went missing on June 28 during a kayaking trip on the Potomac River and was later found deceased after an extensive search—his friend Jamaal Waith remembered him as full of laughter. DC News Now

- ➤ A flash fire broke out in a building under construction in Arlington's 2000 block (Crystal Drive) on July 3, leaving one person seriously hurt; emergency crews responded swiftly and took the victim (with life-threatening injuries) to a hospital as fire marshals investigate the cause. - ➤ Governor Glenn Youngkin said his Homeland Security Task Force has arrested 2,500 alleged violent criminals illegally in the U.S. so far this year, and he urged Arlington and Fairfax law enforcement to work with ICE. He added that murders are down 30% since he took office and a new law that requires schools to notify parents of overdoses will take effect this week — an effort to strengthen public safety. WJLA
