EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two Arlington elementary schools—Abingdon and Hoffman-Boston—will lose federal Title I funding next school year while Arlington Traditional School is added to the program. Officials said the change may affect staffing and benefits like teacher loan forgiveness & noted that several local schools will continue to receive Title I support. ARLnow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Metro announced that starting Sunday its weekend trains will run from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., and that Red Line trains will run every four minutes during rush hours from Monday—while Silver Line trains will have extra service during peak times to ease rider congestion. WJLA
- ➤ Arlington County leaders considered delaying a municipal bond sale and pausing $4.9M in capital projects due to tight economic times, county budget director Richard Stephenson said on Wednesday. County Manager Mark Schwartz said staff prepared to postpone spending until more clarity is gained and update the board in November—officials noted that reduced tax revenues and rising costs are pressuring the county budget.
