BUSINESS NEWS

  • La Posada, a new restaurant by veteran restaurateur Julian Giraldo, will soft open on Thursday at 320 23rd Street S. in Crystal City. Its menu will feature Tex-Mex comfort foods, street tacos and free desserts during the opening.  ARLnow

CRIME NEWS

  • Arlington County Police on May 30 arrested eight shoplifting suspects in a Pentagon City operation—recovering over $6,000 in merchandise amid a 76% rise in shoplifting cases from last year.  ARLnow
  • Arlington County police arrested several teen suspects on Sunday after four boys used what appeared to be a replica gun to steal jewelry in Crystal City and Fairfax County, and another group stabbed a man near Columbia Pike after his phone was taken (recovered items include an airsoft gun, jewelry, and suspected narcotics) with charges pending.  ARLnow

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • This Saturday, the Arlington County Board will review proposals to lower speed limits from 30 mph to 25 mph on five busy road segments, including an infamous stretch of S. Carlin Springs Road—where past crashes have raised concerns—and Fairfax Drive, Washington Blvd, S. Arlington Mill Drive and S. Four Mile Run Drive. County staff said new engineering studies and speed camera data near Campbell Elementary School support the change, and new signage is expected to cost about $3,500 if approved after a July 19 public hearing.  ARLnow
