  • Arlington’s parks dropped from a No. 5 to No. 7 ranking in the ParkScore ratings—falling behind San Francisco and Seattle while still benefiting from higher funding per resident and almost all residents living within a 10-minute walk of a park.  ARLnow
  • Arlington County Fire Department honored firefighter Lloyd Edwards with an emotional radio tribute delivered yesterday at 3:30 p.m., celebrating more than 22 years of service at stations in Rosslyn, Pentagon City and Clarendon before he died on May 5 at age 42.   • Federal Realty Investment Trust proposes pedestrian-focused upgrades on Campbell Avenue in Shirlington that include new seating, expanded planting, tree protection, and changes to curbs, crosswalks, and the median to slow traffic — the County Board will review the plan on Saturday, June 14, with construction scheduled to begin on Jan. 2 if approved.  ARLnow

  • The Arlington County Police Department will reassign one Gang Unit detective to the Criminal Investigations Division’s Property Crimes Unit on June 1 to address a 12% rise in crimes against property in 2024—a move part of a broader restructuring to focus on growing investigative priorities.  WJLA

  • Arlington’s free Lubber Run Amphitheater Summer Concert Series will launch Friday, June 6 with The Arlington Players presenting 'You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown' in a two-week run celebrating their 75th anniversary—future shows include Afrobeat, a Beatles tribute, a family-friendly performance, and more local acts through August at 200 N. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty members of the Assistance League of Northern Virginia packed books for summer reading to donate 1,890 titles to eight Arlington schools (K-6) and prepared 386 three-book packages for students in Head Start, PreK, and Special Education/VSI programs.  The Arlington Connection
