- ➤ Arlington Fire and EMS said a car caught fire on I-395 northbound near exit 8A at 11:43 a.m. causing delays as crews clear the scene and investigators look into the cause—this is the area's second car fire this morning with no injuries reported. WJLA

- ➤ Rooftop Recess opened May 8th at 4 p.m. at 2424 Wilson Blvd in Courthouse after Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill closed in 2023—this three-level venue offers contemporary American food, brunch and cocktails in a garden-inspired setting and seats about 300 people. General manager Brian Ouellette said the restaurant will host late-night DJ events on Friday and Saturday. ARLnow
- ➤ Acme Pie Co. reopened on May 8 at its new Columbia Pike storefront—featuring the same pinball machines, a new breakfast menu, and a $10 breakfast deal available with a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. Owner Sol Schott said the business moved from 2803 to 2406 Columbia Pike due to redevelopment plans, which were later canceled, and now offers a bacon and ramp quiche through this weekend. ARLnow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arlington County Board will meet this Saturday to consider proposals that include adding a beer garden at the fair and building a protected bike lane on Army Navy Drive. Board members will also review upgrades for traffic signals, sports courts, arts grants and a housing study, with a public hearing on the beer garden set for June 14 (the bike lane project includes a 20% contingency for unforeseen costs). - ➤ A potentially rabid fox was seen on the western end of Arlington — Animal Control said it approached dogs and people in Highland Park-Overlee Knolls and Leeway-Overlee — and it remains at large. A fox captured on April 25th in Highland Park-Overlee Knolls tested positive for rabies, so residents are advised to keep pets close and avoid contact with wild animals. ARLnow
