- ➤ Arlington police said that the 71-year-old pickup driver in a January crash in Ballston, who suffered a medical emergency before striking a car on Wilson Blvd and fatally hitting Xuewei He, will not face charges following review by the Commonwealth’s Attorney—investigators confirmed the decision. - ➤ Oscar Gonzalez Alvarenga — who nearly two years ago forced the Wells Fargo bank manager in Clarendon to open a vault while claiming he feared assassins — pleaded guilty to abduction and now faces up to three years in prison under a plea deal that drops the bank robbery charge. ARLnow

- ➤ Virginia Square’s renovated American Legion Post 139 will host its first-ever veterans art exhibit on Memorial Day weekend—showcasing Northern Virginia veterans’ artwork that explores themes of service, conflict, healing and duty. The gallery opening on May 24 at 3445 Washington Blvd will run daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a talk and awards ceremony scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 26. ARLnow

- ➤ Arlington County installed new interpretive panels along Wilson Blvd—between N. Madison Street and McKinley Road—to honor the Rouse estate, the Febrey-Lothrop House demolished in 2021 after preservation efforts failed. The signage, developed by the Dominion Hills Civic Association with Toll Brothers and funded through the Historic Preservation Fund, retells local history from pre-colonial times to the Civil War.
