  • Animal Welfare League of Arlington has a black kitten named Bob who is less than a year old and still learning to trust new people — he is available for adoption during shelter hours and may soon welcome head scratches when he feels safe.  ARLnow

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new Hilton hotel in Rosslyn is taking reservations for fall and will welcome its first guests on Nov 15 at a tall building located at 1900 N Fort Myer Drive — the hotel will offer 331 guest rooms along with two restaurants, Locket and Scott’s Coffee Shop. The hotel also features a fitness center, business center, meeting rooms, free Wi-Fi and self-parking for $45 per day.  ARLnow

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arlington County will begin charging performing arts groups an hourly fee on July 1 instead of a 10% ticket surcharge to recoup losses. Local arts advocates worry the revised cost—now between $23 and $31 per hour—may strain some organizations.  ARLnow
  • Arlington County Board approved a $1.69 billion Fiscal Year 2026 budget on April 9 that is a 2.3 percent increase over FY 2025 and focuses on key services like housing, human services, safety, schools, and a healthy environment—keeping the real estate tax rate unchanged and raising the meals tax from 4 percent to 5 percent—while adding funds to the Economic Stabilization Reserve.  The Arlington Connection
  • Arlington County police announced that road closures will affect several events scheduled for April 26 and 27—these include the Bunny Hop 5K on April 26 and the Festival of the Arts plus Earth Day Every Day Festival on April 26 and 27. Drivers are advised to follow officer directions and use Metro services to avoid delays.  DC News Now
  • WMATA announced that changes to Metrobus service will launch in June and will rename routes while removing stops to speed up bus travel. The plan adds 11 new routes that will run every 12-20 minutes and will offer direct service across Glebe Road in Virginia and a connection from L'Enfant Plaza to National Harbor.  DC News Now
