- ➤ Arlington teacher T.J. O’Leary from St. Agnes School was on a Baltimore field trip when he rescued a father and son from drowning+ his fast reaction helped keep them safe. NBC Washington
- ➤ On April 4, nearly 7,400 homes and businesses lost power in Pentagon City, Crystal City, Aurora Highlands and Foxcroft Heights; by 1:45 p.m., about 2,300 customers remained without power. Dominion estimated restoration between 4 to 7 p.m. and Arlington County firefighters responded to reports of stuck elevators in local hotels and apartment buildings—with the Pentagon City mall and Costco also affected. - ➤ Rumble Boxing gym is set to soft open on Monday, April 14 at 2055 15th Street N in Courthouse with a strength training and boxing program that makes it the second fitness studio on the ground floor of The Commodore apartments near YogaSix — it will offer 45-minute classes and free Rumble 101 sessions through May 29 while operating daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gym plans a grand opening from May 29 to June 1. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ School board candidates June Prakash and Monique Moe Bryant argued that APS should rework plans to close Integration Station so preschoolers with disabilities do not lose needed services. APS staff said the move would save about $1 million—final budget action is set for May 1. ARLnow

- ➤ Arlington will begin a high-visibility traffic enforcement campaign next week that runs from April 7 through May 4 to reduce crashes and educate drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists—officers will monitor areas on Washington Blvd and S. Joyce Street for speeding and distracted driving. The Street Smart initiative aims to remind everyone that traffic safety is a shared responsibility. ARLnow
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Demolition is underway at the Key Bridge Marriott site on 1401 Langston Blvd in Rosslyn, and parts of the hotel have already been torn down as county officials oversee a floor-by-floor removal over several months to keep the community safe. The property is planned for new apartments and a renovated hotel—but the owner must act by July 1 and its future remains uncertain. ARLnow
