CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ From 1935 to 1951, Howard Bradley Bloomer Jr. ran the Sun and wrote a column that recorded Arlington’s life during the Great Depression, World War II and the postwar boom. More than 800 of his columns have been preserved at the Charlie Clark Center for Local History—showing a rare look at the county’s past. ARLnow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arlington County will install right-turn-only signs at Arlington Blvd and Highland Street later this spring to reduce crashes at a dangerous intersection that has seen 39 crashes since 2019 and nine injuries. The county and the Virginia Department of Transportation will monitor the changes for several months and decide on further steps before the planned permanent improvements in 2030. ARLnow
- ➤ The FAA announced it will boost support for DCA air traffic controllers—adding two operational supervisors and reviewing staffing numbers and aircraft arrival rates two months after a midair collision that killed 67. It said a stress management team will visit early this month while one controller is on administrative leave and a man was arrested for assault and battery after a physical fight. NBC Washington
