- ➤ Two teens were arrested after an attempted armed carjacking at 12:48 a.m. on March 29 near Amazon HQ2 in Pentagon City — police recovered a stolen gun from one suspect who gave false information, while a separate incident on Friday night in Crystal City saw a man throw glass that injured two women. - ➤ Registered sex offender Richard Cox, who will face more than 20 charges at a hearing in Arlington next month, is under scrutiny as Gov. Glenn Youngkin criticized Fairfax County officials for not prosecuting him for allegedly exposing himself in women's locker rooms—while Arlington County pressed charges over similar incidents. WJLA

- ➤ Arlington Transportation Partners launched Champions 2025 on March 31 at 10:30 a.m. to help employers and multifamily communities offer transit benefits—reducing the need for single-occupancy vehicles. In 2024 the program saw 152 participants introduce 243 new transportation programs and deliver over 3,750 benefits since its pilot began in 2013. ARLnow
- ➤ County Board member Matt de Ferranti spoke against merging local bus systems during a DMV Moves meeting last week and said Arlington transit must remain locally controlled—other officials noted that combining systems could create complex bureaucracies. The DMV Moves task force will present final recommendations on May 16 to address transit efficiency and funding questions. ARLnow
- ➤ Arlington’s population grew by just under 2% between 2023 and 2024—marking the first time every Northern Virginia community gained in seven years—and the region added 35,181 people as international migration and natural increases offset continued domestic outmigration. - ➤ Arlington County Board members quietly tasked the Department of Parks and Recreation to review fees for the 55+ programming that serves about 7,000 residents, with further discussions expected next spring.
