- ➤ On Friday, a Delta flight about to leave Reagan received orders to divert when its pilot spotted an Air Force jet nearing its altitude during a planned Arlington National Cemetery flyover—officials said no one was hurt and the FAA will investigate. DC News Now
- ➤ A new documentary shows how American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with an Army Blackhawk helicopter near Reagan National in January, a tragedy that prompted officials to change flight rules over the Potomac River. A memorial was built at Gravelly Point to honor the victims of the crash. WJLA

- ➤ The Wakefield Warriors won their first game by beating the Marshall Statesmen 10-0 in a five-inning contest, with pitcher Cort Bringham giving up just two hits (he struck out three and did not let any batters on base). Second-year coach Adam Balutis said (many players returned from last season) that the win shows the team is set for a strong season. ARLnow
- ➤ The Arlington Travel Basketball League’s Division I fifth-grade Commandos won the championship in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League playoffs after a 16—1 season and 14 straight wins. Bruce Buczek led the team with 20 points in the title game against Vienna—where they won 42—34—and he was named tournament MVP. ARLnow
- ➤ Today, the Wakefield Warriors won their first two high-school softball games at home—defeating the Edison Eagles 6-2 and the Marshall Statesmen 11-1. Freshman pitcher Regan Hughes led both contests with strong pitching and multiple hits. ARLnow
- ➤ The Arlington Bulldogs finished fifth in the age 14 and 15 division at the national 4-H Ignite tournament held in D.C. in March. Coach Alex Ordonez praised key plays by Alessandro Meza, Jasson Moran and other players who showed strong teamwork and skill. ARLnow
- ➤ The Arlington Travel Basketball eighth-grade A Division team won the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League tournament title with a 3-0 record after a 31-17 win over Fairfax Police Youth Club in the final, finishing the winter season 15-2. The team will disband as most players begin high school basketball next winter—ending a four-year run. ARLnow
- ➤ Washington-Liberty Generals defended their title at the Norwood Classic baseball tournament at Quincy Park—winning two games against Hylton and the Meridian Mustangs. Sam Jackson hit a walkoff homer for a 6-5 win and Alex Frymoyer pitched a five-inning no-hitter to secure a 16-0 shutout, completing the Generals' 2-0 record for the day—continuing their unbeaten run in the event.
