- ➤ On March 27th, Arlington hosted the Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day (TACD) wreath-laying ceremony to honor the first African American military aviators and nearly 19,000 who served during World War II. Kelly V. Porter (author of The Water Officer) gave remarks during the event. WJLA

- ➤ Yesterday, a fast-casual chain called Life Alive Organic Cafe inked deals to open a new spot in Ballston after debuting in D.C.'s West End in January, while later this year a Los Angeles firm will start an accelerator program in Crystal City to support aerospace and defense startups. Governor Youngkin vetoed a bill to improve ranked-choice voting and planners warned Alexandria on March 25 of potential economic problems if federal cuts come—officials say more steps are planned to address these issues. - ➤ Lawmakers pressed FAA officials about an Army helicopter that hit an American Airlines jet near Reagan National Airport on Feb. 6, killing all on board. The hearing looked into why the agency missed many warning signs and is reviewing data and plans to hire more air traffic controllers—officials and lawmakers said changes are needed to keep flights safe.
