  • A pool hall and bar at 3200 Wilson Blvd is rebranding as Clarendon 54 after ARLnow readers spotted new exterior signs, and it will formally announce the change on April 5. The property was approved for redevelopment in September and will eventually include an apartment building, hotel, Arlington Beer Garden, and office buildings — a plan that marks ongoing changes in the area.  ARLnow
  • Clarendon resident Tessa Cannon is launching The Wandering Shelf, a mobile bookstore from a renovated camper van with 700 titles. It will soft launch in May and open officially in June while operating on weekends to bring a cozy, inspiring book stop to Arlington—focusing on cozy, fantastical and impactful reads.  ARLnow

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A burst pipe flooded and damaged Arlington County’s government headquarters at 2100 Clarendon Blvd, so the building is closed today—county tasks have shifted to virtual operations while all other facilities remain open.  ARLnow
  • Governor Youngkin said on Monday in Richmond that Virginia has seen record job growth with large business investments and has given $9 billion in tax relief while investing more in education and health. Local leaders remain worried about budget deficits and federal job cuts as Arlington County holds a public hearing today on its meals tax.  WJLA
  • On March 14, Rep. Beyer and nine lawmakers supported ending helicopter operations along the Potomac between Hains Point and the Wilson Bridge when runways 15 and 33 are in use at National Airport following the January midair collision. They also urged the FAA to review flight volumes and set an alternative route that avoids residential areas — actions meant to boost airspace safety.  ARLnow
