- ➤ A woman was rescued by good Samaritans from the Potomac River after her Jeep veered off George Washington Memorial Parkway and plunged into the water on Tuesday—she was taken to a hospital for evaluation as police worked to remove the sinking vehicle. NBC Washington
- ➤ New MWAA data shows that since the January 29 midair collision that killed 67 people, Reagan National has seen more delays—with on-time arrivals dropping from 88.7% to 58.5% and passengers falling from about 959,000 to 839,000—and permanent flight rule changes may keep delays high. WJLA

- ➤ Coffee Republic opened last week at 3130 Potomac Avenue in Crystal City inside the Azure National Landing apartments, offering espresso drinks, all-day breakfast and eight special lattes in a fun cafe with neon signs and cozy seats—this is its first Virginia spot. The franchise, which already runs three D.C. area locations, will serve espresso martinis when it gets its liquor license. ARLnow
- ➤ Lantern Restaurant & Bar opened late last month at 320 23rd Street S in Crystal City and now offers karaoke rooms with rates from $50 to $150 per hour, Chinese dishes, special cherry blossom drinks until April 6, and plans for live music nightly. - ➤ Arlington prosecutors dropped charges against a 24-year-old convenience store employee accused of slashing an alleged shoplifter on Dec. 16 at a 7-Eleven in Arlington Heights — he also damaged a getaway car after the incident. ARLnow
- ➤ Dr. Badar Khan Suri, a Georgetown University researcher and faculty member on a student visa, was detained by federal officials at his Arlington home on Monday and now faces deportation—officials say his detention may be linked to his and his wife's reported views on U.S. foreign policy. WJLA

- ➤ Synetic Theater is showing The Immigrant (a play based on the 1918 silent comedy featuring Charlie Chaplin's Little Tramp) at Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre in Arlington until March 23. The show mixes dance, theater and film to share an immigrant journey from the early 1900s. ARLnow

- ➤ The Virginia Department of Workforce Development and Advancement reported that more than 4,000 unemployment claims were filed in the first week of March, including several hundred by federal workers. Local leaders warn that planned federal workforce cuts may hurt Arlington's economy, which relies on 25,000 federal employees—officials say extra government action may be needed if impacts worsen.
