- ➤ The FAA announced on Friday (March 14th) that helicopters will be permanently banned from flying the route near the airport where an Army helicopter collided with a passenger jet on January 29th, killing 67 people, following several near misses that raised safety concerns. NBC Washington

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arlington Public Schools leaders unveiled an $845.4M fiscal year 2026 budget that raises spending by 2.3% and expects $650 million in revenue from the county. The draft plan cuts programs like Integration Station and 85 full-time positions and will be reviewed at a public hearing on April 3rd — officials said they will use community feedback to guide final decisions. - ➤ A March 11 briefing revealed that a section of 12th Street S in Pentagon City will be closed to drivers for about a year as the county expands its bus rapid transit corridor to improve safety and speed up work while keeping pedestrian access open. The project will add dedicated Metroway bus lanes and two sheltered transit stations at the 12th Street S and S. Elm Street intersection — construction is set to begin in the coming months. ARLnow
- ➤ The REAL ID law will be enforced starting May 7th, 2025, so residents must show a REAL ID or approved alternative when boarding flights or entering secure federal sites—this follows decades of delays since the law was passed 20 years ago.
